Kundgebung Herkulesstraße in Köln-Ehrenfeld, Di. 5.

Evacuate the camps - Corona protection for everyone

Herkulesstraße protest rally in Cologne-Ehrenfeld, Tuesday May 5, 2020, 5 -7 p.m.
(near Subway/U-Bahn Gutenbergstraße, line no. 5)

On Friday, May 1st, the city of Cologne announced what was to be expected:
A corona infection in the collective accommodation for refugees in
Herkulesstraße occurred:

"In the refugee accomodation Herkulesstraße refugee one person was tested
positive for Covid-19. This person and its family have been moved to
another quarantine facility. All around 290 residents of the Herkulesstraße
refugee accommodation were put in quarantine as a precaution and are
currently being tested for the Corona virus. The results are expected in
the coming days, then the next steps will be decided." Source:

Since then, there have been no new announcements from the city. But it is
clear that the spread of the infection can hardly be prevented under the
storage conditions. Experience in many other such institutions in Germany
shows this. Quarantining entire collective accommodations, locking up the
refugees there and thus making the already unbearable situation even worse
for them is not a solution.

We therefore protest against the accommodation in the camp and demand the
immediate provision of apartments and decentralized accommodation for the
people living there.

Solidarity with the refugees - evacuate the camp!

P.S. The rally has been approved by the authorities with the usual
conditions. Please pay attention to the distance requirement and wear
protective masks.
