Aus dem Film: "Angla Davis kam am 04. Februar 2016 nach Bilbao, im Baskenland, um an einer Konferenz teilzunehmen, einem lange erwarteten Zusammentreffen zweier wichtiger Kämpfe.

Ihre Mitwirkung an der Konferenz - Frauen und Knast - entfachte eine Diskussion um die Notwendigkeit, unsere Ideen zu Knast zu überdenken und eine abolitionistische Perspektive [zur Abschaffung des Gefängnissystems] in unsere soziale Bewegungen miteinzubeziehen. Im hier und jetzt.

Angela Davis ist eine schwarze, kommunistische, lesbische, sozialistische und feministische Frau und wir können heutzutage noch viel von ihr lernen. Viele Menschen auf der Welt beziehen sich auf sie und seit unserem Kennenlernen wurde sie noch wichtiger für uns."

Film screening: Kartzela Kalera! Emakumeak eta Kartzela / Prison to the streets! Women and Prison.

From the movie: "Angela Davis came to Bilbao, the Basque Country, on February 4th, 2016, to take part in a conference, a long-awaited encounter between two important struggles.

Her contribution in the conference "Women and Prisons" sparked discussions around the need to rethink our ideas around the prison establishment and to incorporate an abolitionist [to abolish the prison system] perspective into our social movements. Right here and now.

Above all things Angela Davis is a black, communist, lesbian, socialist, and feminist woman, and we can still learn a lot from her today. She has been an important referent for people all over the world, and since we got to know her, she's become even more important to us."
