Arabischer Frühling, Diktaturen, Milizen, „Flüchtlingskrise“, Seenotrettung….

Immer wieder tauchen die nordafrikanischen Staaten in der einen oder anderen Form in den Schlagzeilen der Presse auf - in den letzten Jahren hauptsächlich in Bezug auf Migration übers Mittelmeer.

Doch wie sieht es eigentlich vor Ort gerade aus? Welche sozialen Kämpfe finden dort statt und wie gehen Aktivist*innen, die gegen Unterdrückung und Verfolgung aufstehen, die für bessere Lebensverhältnisse und Selbstbestimmung kämpfen, mit Repression um?

Diese Auseinandersetzungen, Kämpfe und Entwicklungen finden oftmals außerhalb der europäischen Wahrnehmung statt. Und dass, obwohl sie häufig direkt mit der europäischen Politik zusammenhängen.

Wir wollen mit zwei Aktivisten aus Marokko und Ägypten den Fokus auf diese Kämpfe, die Repression und ihre Folgen setzen.

Im Blick auf die Situation in Marokko wird es um die diversen sozialen Kämpfe dort gehen, von Streiks bis zu den Aufständen in der Rif-Region und um die Repression politischer Aktivist*innen.

Zur Lage in Ägypten wird der Referent über die Situation und die Bedingungen der Inhaftierung von Migrant*innen sprechen und über die Risiken der Onlineüberwachung von politischen und Menschenrechtsaktivist*innen berichten.

Wir möchten Wege der praktischen Solidarität über Grenzen und Meere hinweg suchen und die Kämpfe hier mit den Kämpfen dort ins Verhältnis setzen, die viel mehr miteinander zu tun haben, als manche denken.

Die Veranstaltung findet im Rahmen des „Camps für praktische Solidarität“ statt, welches im Herbst 2019 in Köln stattfinden wird.

Over and over the North African States pop up in the news headlines – mostly when it comes to migration across the sea.

But what is actually going on locally? What kind of social fights are taking place and how do activists fighting against repression and persecution and better life conditions and self-determination deal with repression? Tese fights often are beyond the radar of European awareness. Even if they are direct anwers to European policy.

We want to focus these fights, repression and consequences with two activists from Marocco and Egypt. Looking at the situation in Marocco we will talk about diverse social fights, such as stikes up to the upheavals in the Rif-Region and about repression of political activists. The referee will talk about the situation and conditions of imprisonment of migrants and risks through online observation of political activists and human rights activists.

We want to show ways of practical solidarity acros the borders and oceans and want to relate our fights here with those abroad because they are dfar more connected than many people tend to think. The event willl take place during the „Camp for practical solidarity“ in Cologne autumn 2019.
